Five Learning Briefs on the Women, Peace and Security Agenda
In January 2025, Oxfam Denmark, DanChurchAid, Danish Family Planning Association and Women’s Council Denmark — representing the wider Danish CSO WPS Network – launched a collaborative learning project with funding from Global Focus. The project aimed to enhance the capacity of Danish and global civil society organisations to work more effectively on the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda at national, regional and global levels.
Over the course of a year, the project facilitated knowledge and experience exchange between Danish and global CSOs – particularly those working in global majority and crisis-affected contexts – spanning countries across all continents, including South Sudan, Syria, Palestine, Ukraine, Colombia, Haiti and beyond. Learning took place through webinars, an in-person workshop in Copenhagen, and peer exchange among CSO practitioners, researchers and international experts.
The result is five learning briefs that document best practices, challenges, lessons learned and recommendations for advancing the WPS agenda – with a particular focus on the implementation of Denmark’s 5th National Action Plan on WPS.
The five briefs cover the following themes:
- Bodily Autonomy in Times of Crisis: Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in the WPS Agenda
- Towards an Intersectional WPS Agenda: Strategies, Challenges and Solidarity with LGBTQIA+ People in a Time of Backlash
- Women, Peace and Security and Climate Justice: Gender-Transformative Solutions that Build Climate Resilience and Lasting Peace
- Reclaiming the WPS Agenda in Times of Backlash: The Role of Women’s Rights Organisations, Women-Led Organisations, and Women Human Rights Defenders
- Taking Stock of the WPS Agenda: A Workshop Report for a Feminist Decolonial Approach
