Indgiv en klage over Oxfam

Report sexual harassment, abuse, exploitation or violence

Safeguarding concerns and fraud/corruption related misconduct can be reported online. Everyone, including Oxfam’s partners and people we work with, can raise a concern or complaint about something they have experienced or witnessed without fear of retaliation.

Anti-Corruption and Fraud

Oxfam Denmark’s anti-corruption policy, established to prevent corruption and fraud involving development aid, has been in place since 2009. Since January 2013, we have had a whistleblower scheme allowing employees within the organization to report suspected misuse of aid funds anonymously.

Safeguarding

To protect the people we work with—as well as our colleagues and volunteers—from all forms of sexual harassment, abuse, exploitation, or violence, Oxfam has developed a set of policies and procedures under the umbrella term Safeguarding.

What safeguarding means for Oxfam Denmark

At Oxfam, we are committed to zero tolerance for sexual harassment, abuse, exploitation, or violence.

This means we do everything in our power to prevent such incidents from occurring, and take them extremely seriously if they do.

A cornerstone of this commitment is Oxfam’s Code of Conduct, which governs our behavior and outlines how every person within Oxfam, regardless of role or location, is expected to carry out their work.

What happens when you report sexual harassment, abuse, exploitation, or violence?

We involve all relevant parties and act as quickly as possible to reach a resolution. However, the timeline may vary depending on the nature and complexity of the case. You will be kept informed throughout the entire process.

  • Case description
You will be asked to provide detailed information about the incident. You may choose to remain anonymous.
  • Assessment
If your complaint relates to safeguarding, a specialized team will handle it. Care and protection measures will be put in place for victims and witnesses.
  • Case handling
The team will decide whether the case should proceed and, if so, who needs to be involved. The investigation then begins.
  • Outcome
A status report will be written, including recommendations for next steps. These recommendations will be acted upon.
  • Closure
You will be informed once the case is concluded. Lessons learned will be documented for future safeguarding efforts. The case will be archived by the specialized team.

Forbedring af safeguarding og kulturen i Oxfam

Improving safeguarding and culture at Oxfam

As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability, Oxfam reports every six months the progress it makes to improve safeguarding and culture and discloses its global case data for that period. You can find all reports on Oxfam Internationals website.

How do we work to prevent sexual harassment, abuse, exploitation, and violence?

The safeguarding unit focuses on three main areas:

  • Prevention
Training, communication, and information efforts are used to prevent and reduce the risk of abuse and exploitation. This includes revised recruitment processes, conducting risk assessments, and evaluating staff capacity to perform their roles responsibly.
  • Support and care
Resources are allocated to support and care for those who have experienced sexual harassment, abuse, exploitation, or violence. Staff are trained to handle such cases with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Response
This involves strengthening and harmonizing existing policies and procedures, ensuring they are clear and accessible to everyone. We aim to foster an environment where information is shared transparently and individuals are held accountable.
